MU President Receives the Minister of Religious Endowments
Prof. Dr. Essam Farahat, Minia University President, received Minister of Religious Endowments (Awqaf) His Eminence Prof. Dr. Usama Al-Azhari, in the presence of Dean of Faculty of Arts Dr. Ebrahim Abu Al-Khair, Head of the Islamic Studies Department Prof. Dr. Mohamed Mamdouh, and other academic members, including Dr. Mansour Raslan and Director of the Minia Awqaf Directorate Dr. Omar Khalifa, as well as a number of Awqaf imams.
Prof. Dr. Farahat expressed that the minister's visit is a significant intellectual contribution, recognizing Prof. Dr. Al-Azhari as a leading figure in enlightened Islamic thought in Egypt and the Arab world. He commended the Ministry of Awqaf for promoting moderate values, combating extremism, and upholding the true teachings of Islam.
On the other hand, he appreciated the minister’s role in enhancing the university's academic and research efforts, particularly as he presided over the doctoral thesis defense by researcher Atef Mohamed Fathy in Islamic Studies, titled "The Impact of the Prophetic Story in Instilling Faith and Its Application in Da'wah Discourse."
The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation between Minia University and the Minia Directorate of Awqaf, aiming to support training programs for preachers and speakers. This collaboration will include specialized courses to enhance public speaking, media engagement, and effective communication, involving relevant academic departments such as Media, Psychology, Sociology, and Islamic Studies.
The visit also featured an in-depth discussion of the doctoral thesis, where Prof. Dr. Al-Azhari emphasized the importance of prophetic narratives in building faith and instilling moral values and their contribution to modern religious discourse, fostering correct religious awareness and promoting enlightened thought.
