MU Hospitals Ranks among the Top 10 Centers Globally for Patients Registering with Strokes

Prof. Dr. Essam Farahat, Minia University President, announced the university's latest international achievement in the medical field, recognizing the stroke unit at the university hospitals as one of the top 10 centers for patient registrations with stroke date between January 1 and May 31, 2026, according to the SITS International Registry, a leading database for stroke research.

Prof. Dr. Farahat noted that this recognition highlights the significant advancements within Minia University's medical system and its ongoing commitment to enhancing health services to meet global standards. He credited the achievement to the dedicated efforts of the medical, nursing, technical, and administrative staff at the stroke unit, supported by qualified personnel and advanced equipment that facilitates high-quality specialized medical services.

The university president emphasized that Minia University's inclusion among the best global centers underscores its distinguished scientific and medical reputation regionally and internationally. It reflects the successful implementation of cutting-edge therapeutic protocols for managing strokes and brain hemorrhages, alongside a commitment to maintaining quality and precision in medical data according to international norms.

This milestone opens new opportunities for Minia University to engage in international multicenter studies and research, solidifying its role as a prominent academic and medical center in neurology and strokes.

On his part, Prof. Dr. Ayman Hassanein, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development and CEO of University Hospitals, explained that this recognition stemmed from collaborative efforts within the hospital to enhance stroke treatment protocols, ensuring rapid diagnosis and therapy in line with the latest global medical standards. He asserted that the stroke unit has become a leading model for specialized care in Upper Egypt.

Prof. Dr. Ehab Refaat, Dean of Faculty of Medicine and Board Chairman of University Hospitals, stated that the stroke unit's selection among the best global centers confirms the quality of Faculty of Medicine and the university hospitals, reflecting notable progress in medical, educational, and research services.

Prof. Dr. Nermin Ali Hamdy, Head of the Department of Neurology, Neurosurgery, and Psychiatry, noted that this achievement was enabled by the team’s dedication to international treatment and reporting standards, as well as their contributions to global stroke research.

The SITS International Registry, one of the largest platforms monitoring stroke patient outcomes worldwide, includes thousands of medical and research centers, and this classification marks a significant global achievement that highlights Minia University's excellence in the medical and research fields.
